Cyndy Brown, CAP®

Cyndy has 27 years of experience in the nonprofit sector with 19 years devoted solely to raising major and planned gifts.

She has facilitated planned gifts for Oxfam America, Plan International, and the Salvation Army. Cyndy dedicated five years to raising major gifts in Wheaton College’s (MA) $150 million capital campaign and has also served as Development and Communications Directors at small nonprofits.

With a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Psychology from the University of Rochester, Cyndy uses her persuasive writing skills in the development of marketing materials and donor communications.

Since 2014, Cyndy maintains a Chartered Advisor of Philanthropy (CAP®) credential from The American College of Financial Services which confirms her ability to facilitate planned gifts with donors and their professional advisors, finding the best gift plan for their unique circumstances.

Over her career, Cyndy has started planned giving programs at many small nonprofits and identified a dire need for these services. She created Legacy Spark in order to empower development staff to efficiently begin and economically run a planned giving program.
